Cement Factory Becomes a Residence and a Workshop
In 1973 Ricardo Bofill, a Spanish architect, discovered an abandoned cement factory and transformed it into a private residence and workshop place for his Taller de Architectura.
This industrial castle from the turn of the century features over 30 silos, subterranean galleries and huge machine rooms. Besides this, the building contains surrealistic characteristics as well: stairs that climb up to nowhere, colossal concrete structures that behold nothing, and pieces of iron hanging in the air.
